Discuss the difference between leaders, leadership, leadership dynamics and leadership development?

Boston’s famous Robert Swan Restaurant is open 24 hours a day. Servers report for duty at 3 A.M., 7 A.M., 11 A.M., 3 P.M., 7 P.M., or 11 P.M., and each works an 8-hour shift. The following table shows the minimum number of workers needed during the 6 periods into which the day is divided.

PeriodTimeNumber of Waiters and Busboys Required
13 A.M.-7 A.M.4
27 A.M.-11 A.M.5
311 A.M.-3 P.M.10
43 P.M.-7 P.M.9
57 P.M.-11 P.M.12
611 P.M.-3A.M.5

Swan’s scheduling problem is to determine how many servers should report for work at the start of each time period in order to minimize the total staff required for one day’s operation.

Formulate this decision as a mathematical program.

b)   After reexamining the original problem definition, the personnel manager at Tristate       realized that it would be more appropriate to minimize the total payroll costs. All workers who work in periods 2, 3, 4, and 5 earn $10 per hour. Workers working during periods 1 and 6 are paid $15 per hour. Formulate a revised optimization model to minimize the total daily cost of employing workers.
